Openings for new patients

Due to our limited capacity to welcome new patients into the practice, we must be thoughtful and selective about who we are able to take on. This decision is based on availability and fit, and should not be interpreted as a judgment of you personally or your suitability as a patient.

Focus for potentially new patients

Dr. Homer' current practice focus for new patients is lifestyle psychiatry: a practical, goal-oriented approach that recognizes the close relationship among mental health, sleep, nutrition, physical activity, stress, daily routines, and overall well-being. Care is designed for highly motivated individuals who are generally functioning well and have relatively mild psychiatric concerns outside of the specific goals being addressed.

Within this lifestyle-focused model, Dr. Homer is currently accepting new patients primarily for:

  • Psychiatric weight management**: Support for individuals whose weight concerns are related to emotional eating, stress eating, binge-type patterns, sleep disruption, low motivation, or other psychological and behavioral factors. This work may also be appropriate when weight-related concerns are contributing to mild depression or anxiety, such as through body-image distress, reduced confidence, social avoidance, frustration, or difficulty sustaining healthy routines. Patients are expected to participate actively in a weight-management plan that includes regular physical activity and healthy, sustainable eating habits.

  • Sports, gym, and performance psychiatry**: Support with motivation, consistency, confidence, focus, performance anxiety, exercise habits, and psychological barriers that interfere with training, recovery, or personal performance goals.

Treatment is generally structured and time-limited, with clear individualized goals, progress monitoring, and an emphasis on developing sustainable skills and routines. Medication may be used when clinically appropriate and within approved indications. Controlled substances are only rarely prescribed in the context of these treatment modalities.
